From the Joyful Portraits to the Design Details, We Love This National Cathedral Wedding

Leslie, from the Chicago suburbs, and Andy, from LA, met when Andy spotted Leslie in the Instagram story of a mutual friend and DMed her with a “solid plan”: Thursday night at 7:30 on the 12 Stories rooftop at the Wharf. She liked that he was direct with his intentions, and after a six-hour first date, he was envisioning their future. Andy proposed three years later on another rooftop—this one in Chicago, with a mariachi band—while loved ones who’d flown in waited to celebrate.

Their springtime wedding, they say, was a celebration of their Mexican culture designed in neutrals—“white, off-white, ivory, and beige,” Leslie jokes. Her favorite moment of the day was belting out “This Is What Dreams Are Made Of” from The Lizzie McGuire Movie with friends from every stage of her life. The groom’s favorite detail was his tuxedo’s lining, which was filled with photos of Leslie—including one from their first date—and their dog, Benito. Other highlights were the vintage Rolls-Royce Leslie surprised her dad with to take them to the cathedral and a Mexican-themed cocktail hour with ceviche and taco bars, Latin popsicles, traditional papel picado banners, and mezcal drinks.
