Alex, a visualization strategy manager from Georgia, and Matthew, a corporate researcher from Bermuda, met on Tinder when Matthew was traveling through DC for an athletic event. Though they made plans for a date, on the night they were supposed to meet, they say, Alex stood Matthew up to go on a date with another Tinder match, thinking there was no future with someone who was only in town for a few days. But eventually, she suggested meeting up the following night, and Matthew agreed. Sparks flew immediately on their date at ChurchKey on 14th Street, and five years later, Matthew proposed on a quiet, lantern-lit path they wandered along while biking through Kyoto on a trip to Japan.
