Two years after Deshaune, a physical-education teacher, nonprofit founder, and coach, messaged Qianna, who works for the federal government, on Facebook, he proposed while the pair were in Cancún celebrating her 30th birthday.
Their wedding five years later was modern and fashion-forward, with a black-and-white “moody romance” theme. Before a first look that included their children, Qianna enjoyed quiet time in the bridal suite, while Deshaune’s getting-ready spot was designed to mimic a vibrant contemporary barbershop. The runway-inspired ceremony featured a raised, candlelit aisle anchored by an eight-foot pedestal featuring the couple’s monogram. At the black-velvet-draped reception, the newlyweds were joined by their two sons at a family-style sweetheart table framed by a soaring double arch, and estate tables, each topped with candlelight and flowers, were lined with black-and-white chairs for guest seating.
