Executives Laura and Simon met through a professional association. What began as a friendship eventually blossomed into romance. For their first date, they went to the DC Improv, and six years later, Simon proposed while the pair were vacationing in Mexico City.
For their September wedding, the pair wanted an “elegant, modern, illuminated” aesthetic with a color scheme of soft white hues and gold accents. Laura’s favorite design detail was the escort wall where each guest found an envelope that featured their table assignment on the outside, and a handwritten, personalized note inside. “Each card expressed appreciation to the guests for being a part of their special day, and offered a memory of the history they shared with the guests,” says Laura. Simon’s favorite party was Hotel Washington’s Sky Room, which offered modern decor, natural light from floor-to-ceiling windows, and views of the Washington Monument, and where the pair took portraits and hosted their cocktail hour.
For music, they opted for a DJ-and-saxophonist combination, which they said was a hit on the dance floor. And for favors, guests parted with heart-shaped dark chocolates with Champagne truffle ganache filling from Compartés Chocolatier. See the details from their big day below.
