On Tuesday, the State Department unveiled renderings for an America 250 commemorative passport. The new design prominently features President Trump; his portrait is superimposed over the text of the Declaration of Independence, his signature squiggled in gold at the bottom of the page.
Though the special edition will only be available for a limited time, a State Department spokesperson told the Washington Post that the commemorative design “will be the only available passport for those who show up in person at the Washington Passport Agency” until the product runs out. So if you’re due for a renewal, you’ll have to look at Trump’s face every time you travel for the next ten years or otherwise delay your upcoming international vacation. If neither of these options sounds appealing to you, online sellers appear to have found a workaround.
By the end of the day on Tuesday, a smattering of new stickers started popping up on Etsy. The most prolific vendor so far, a shop by the name of phuonggogo95, has listed several spoofs of the State Department mockup: One features an image of Trump apparently dozing off, another replaces his face entirely with Jeffrey Epstein’s, and yet another features the infamous 1997 photo of both Epstein and Trump posing together at Mar-a-Lago. Another seller, ArtisanRepublicShop, markets a “passport bumper sticker“—it’s a pretty precise replica of the official design, except red devil horns have been drawn on Trump’s head and an arrow attached to the word “pedo” leads directly to his mug.
Presumably, you can deploy one of these adhesive bad boys to cover any passport pages you might find objectionable. In fact, online retailers pioneered this playbook back in January when the Interior Department dropped its 2026 “America the Beautiful” annual pass, which features side-by-side portraits of Trump and George Washington as opposed to the usual landscape or wildlife shot. Digital artists began creating stickers to obscure the design, but the National Park Service quickly updated its policies to prohibit admission with any sticker-adorned passes. So vendors then pivoted to removable sleeves: Top sellers include a design that covers Trump with Smokey the Bear, a customizable option that allows buyers to choose from a selection of national park illustrations, and one depicting the president as a clown. While the State Department has not issued official guidance on whether passports with this specific page covered will be accepted, we have our eyes peeled for further innovation in the government-issued document decoration technology space.
