6 Relaxing Solo Date Ideas Around the DC Area

Have a lovely dinner, spa day, or stroll.

Written by Rebecca Norris | Published on October 15, 2026

Spa Day

Embrace the tranquil side of solitude in one of SweatHouz’s private contrast-therapy suites, where you can follow a soothing infrared sauna session with an invigorating cold plunge. Prefer some posh pampering? The spa at the Potomac Hotel, formerly Salamander DC, offers a dozen nourishing massages, plus a variety of skin and nail treatments.

Solo Dining

Snag a table for one at the Falls Church cafe Godfrey’s, where you can watch the pastry chefs make fresh croissants. Or, at happy hour, sidle up to the busy aquarium-themed bar at Union Market’s El Presidente. The bartenders are conversational, and if you’re feeling self-conscious about being alone, there’s a good chance you won’t be the only unaccompanied diner.

Peaceful Nature

Immerse yourself in the outdoors with a tree-lined stroll at Burke Lake Park in Fairfax Station, where you can also rest and reflect on one of the lakeside benches or work up a sweat on the trail’s Perrier Parcourse Fitness Circuit. For an integrative-art retreat, walk the sprawling grounds of Glenstone in Potomac.
