Photos: Trump’s Rally to Open the Great American State Fair

The speech, the crowd, the merch.

When nearly the entire lineup for the Great American State Fair’s concert series pulled out, President Donald Trump promised that in exchange he would bring “the Number One Attraction anywhere in the World, the man who gets much larger audiences than Elvis in his prime, and he does so without a guitar.” That’s why last night, the opening night of the fair was transformed into a rally for Trump himself—as advertised, he did not play guitar.

The rally included a 30-minute speech by Trump, a performance of “Hallelujah” played against the wishes of Leonard Cohen’s estate, Kash Patel’s girlfriend singing the national anthem, a flyover by B-2 bombers, and, of course, the President dancing to YMCA. Our staff photographer Evy Mages was there to capture it all.
