Kathryn, a first-grade teacher, and Jake, an insurance consultant, first met working at the same restaurant one summer in college, and reconnected a few years later online. Two and a half years after their first date at Caboose Brewery in Fairfax, Jake proposed on a trip to see the Christmas tree at Rockefeller Center, with loved ones who flew in from across the country waiting nearby to celebrate.
For their 140-guest, “modern-industrial”-themed October wedding, the Virginia couple chose Long View Gallery. Kathryn’s favorite details were the bridal processional music, which was custom composed by her brother and the hanging floral installation above the ceremony and later the head table. Jake says his favorite parts were the venue itself, and the food, which included passed chicken parm sliders, shrimp rolls, and charcuterie, plus a choice of beef tenderloin and sea bass. In addition to other sweet treats, dessert included a Funfetti wedding cake. One more special touch: in lieu of a guestbook, the game-loving couple had guests write well wishes on blank playing cards.
