America's 250th

About America's 250th

As America celebrates its 250th birthday, here’s how to enjoy—and endure—the festivities in the Washington area.

More from America's 250th

Some visitors to DC are ready to ball out for America’s 250th. Hotels are happy to oblige. Here’s a sample of what’s being offered for July Fourth weekend.

At the Rosewood, a ritzy hotel along the C&O Canal in Georgetown, a four-night stay in the Presidential Suite for up to eight guests will run you, cheekily, $250,000. That cool quarter million buys first-class airfare, a dedicated driver, a Potomac yacht ride, and access to a rooftop fireworks party.

The Paris-inspired Sofitel Lafayette Square is offering a celebratory package this summer. Three nights in the Presidential Suite around July 4 would run you about $30,800. Enjoy in-room breakfast, private afternoon tea, and a tasting dinner while staying in the office-equipped suite—which, as the hotel advertises, has an adjoining suite ideal for a security detail.

The Willard Intercontinental has hosted presidents and dignitaries since the Civil War era. Starting around $2,200 per night with a three-night minimum, the hotel’s package includes a daily $250 credit for its spa, restaurants, and Round Robin Bar.

This article appears in the June 2026 issue of Washingtonian.
