Invariant CEO Heather Podesta and filmmaker Stephen Kessler have listed their 6,800 square-foot, seven-bedroom, six-full-and-two-half-bathroom Beaux-Arts-style home in posh Kalorama for $6,195,000.

The property—which includes a main house as well as a two-story carriage house—was designed by architect Albert H. Beers and built by Louis Emmert in 1911. It eventually served as a home to the Sullivan School military prep academy, and for a time later, starting in the 1970s, housed the Field School. Podesta bought it in 2013.

Combining original architectural details with modern updates, the home features 10-and-a-half-foot ceilings on the main floor, where there are several entertaining areas including an oval dining room and a gallery. A primary suite with a fireplace, sitting area, expansive spa-inspired bathroom, and two walk-in closets makes up the second floor. Up on the third floor, there are three more bedrooms and two additional full bathrooms, while the lower level has a full-service catering kitchen, laundry room, and a two-bedroom, two-bathroom in-law or au pair suite with its own private entrance. The property also features covered porches on the main and second levels, gated driveway parking, and landscaped front and rear gardens. The carriage house includes one bedroom and one-and-a-half bathrooms.

The listing agents are Robert Hryniewicki, Adam Rackliffe, Christopher Leary, and Micah Smith of HRLS Partners at TTR Sotheby’s International Realty.
