It seems as though every day another beautiful, local Instagram feed pops up on my radar. (In fact, I’m now offically following way too many people and end up down the rabbithole for hours at a time. Send help.) We’ll be chronicling our favorite new discoveries, whether they have 35 followers or 350,000. So here’s the first batch of DC/MD/VA Instagrammers who are upping the standards for the rest of us.
Michelle Conley Cherry @michelleconleycherry
The District-based fashion ‘grammer pops up all over the city to pose in front of some of our prettiest murals and grittiest stoops. Her urban-cool look almost always includes ripped black skinny jeans and some sort of funky cheapeau. Cherry’s vibe is casual and accessible, but damn do I wish I had her hair. And you have to respect the style of a woman with such perfect brows.
Laicie Heeley @laicie
It’s hard to figure out when exactly Laicie Heeley has time to sleep. Not only is she the founder of the flaky-croissant-producing Frederick-based Dough Uprising and the creative-gathering entity Field & Foundry, she’s also due to launch another enterprise called Holson House in the near future. This means her feed is a delicious mix of fresh bread, bough-draped barns, and artfully-placed herbs.
Appointed Co. @appointedco
The American-made, DC-based paper and stationery company only produces streamlined, elegant, practical tools. Their feed perfectly represents that vibe, with brilliantly lit product shots and peeks into the clean and serene workspaces of folks they admire. The notebooks themeslves (which you can buy online or at Maketto) are a dream.
Elisa Bricker @elisabrickerphoto
Somehow, Elisa Bricker‘s second Instagram account has gone unnoticed by the public, despite the fact that she also operates @elisabricker for her light-filled, verdant wedding photography. So if you aren’t planning a wedding but are looking forward to photos of the misty Shenandoah mountains, thoughful tablescapes, and quiet little shops, check out this vastly under-recognized feed.
@queengwenn
All you really need to know about this former Californian is that she pops up everywhere in the District and beyond. If it’s new and interesting and beautiful, she ‘grams it.
