Cannon’s Fish Market, one of the best-loved seafood markets in Washington, has temporarily shuttered. The family-owned purveyor has operated in its current Georgetown location since the 1960s, but closed on August 11 for an undetermined period of time. Owner Bobby Moore sent out the following e-mail to customers:
“We regret to say that Cannon’s will be closed for the next few months for medical reasons. Please stay posted and keep us up to date with anything pertinent while we are closed. We appreciate all of you as our customers. Your loyalty does not go unnoticed.”
The no-frills shop attracted a steady following for its pristine fish, shellfish, and live lobsters steamed to order. We’ve reached out to Moore for details on a potential reopening date. Until then, Georgetowners can buy crustaceans from Luke’s Lobster’s new market.
