Trilogy® at Lake Frederick is an active-adult community in Northern Virginia with a focus on appreciating the good things in life, whether that’s enjoying the great outdoors, staying healthy and fit through exercise or enjoying fine food and wine with friends. Nestled in the picturesque Shenandoah Valley just 90 minutes from Washington, D.C., the community is centered around the picturesque 117-acre Lake Frederick. Adults can stay active by taking advantage of the public boat and kayak rentals to go out on Lake Frederick, using the hiking and biking trails laced throughout the 900-acre development, growing their own vegetables in a community garden, playing tennis or pickleball on the on-site courts, swimming or doing low-impact water aerobics in one of the community’s two pools or even taking a high-intensity “Afturburn” workout class at the Sports & Fitness Center.

“Today’s older adults aren’t looking to retire, per se,” explained Jason King, General Manager of Trilogy at Lake Frederick developer Shea Homes, who is based in the area. “They’re looking to continue the same hobbies and activities that have long kept them fit and engaged. We want to make sure they have the ability to keep doing that.” The fitness center is just one of several amenities inside the 36,000-square-foot Shenandoah Lodge & Athletic Club, which is also home to a showcase kitchen that can simulcast special programming from other Trilogy sites, an art studio, a poker and billiards room called the Crow’s Nest and even a wine cellar available to Members. These additional amenities allow our members to meet and interact with neighbors while expanding on their personal interests.

The lodge is also home to Region’s 117, a farm-to-table restaurant which was named one of the 100 most scenic restaurants and one of the 100 best brunch spots in America by Open Table in 2017. The menu, which focuses on classic comfort food with a modern twist, changes seasonally but is always tied to local traditions. “We start with the best ingredients we can find at local farms, look for inspiration in the classic recipes of the region and build our menu from that,” said Executive Chef Scott Bilstad. A more casual meeting space is also available at Inglenook, a casual tavern bar located adjacent to a distinctive four way fireplace, and the Market Place, a grab-and-go coffee bar with light breakfast and lunch options.

The relaxed, boutique feel of the community can be seen in the fact that Lake Fredrick has become an increasingly popular spot for summer weddings.
