About Plaka Grill
The Mediterranean Diet may have its virtues, but let’s get one thing out of the way: You won’t eat lightly at these counter-service dining rooms. Order the famed pork souvlaki and you’ll get a pita fat with tender meat, tzatziki, tomato—and French fries. Plates of spiced, béchamel-laden pastitsio—the Greek answer to lasagna—come with addictively lemony potatoes. Starters include crispy calamari and an assortment of creamy dips, including smooth taramasalata and piquant tyrokafteri, a whip of feta with jalapeño and red pepper. At this point, why skip dessert? The galaktoboureko, phyllo pastry holding orange custard and honey, is lovely. Also good: Moussaka; Greek salad.
