Maydan owner Rose Previte’s snug, styling dining room and cocktail spot—an homage to her Lebanese-by-way-of-Ohio roots and recipes—is currently our favorite reason to visit the Mosaic District. Graze on as many dips as your appetite will allow, including walnut-and-kalamata-based “olive goodness,” mint-flecked labneh, and hummus. Then tear into a feast of kebabs. You can order them à la carte (the lamb and steak are standouts), but the kitchen’s “picnic platter,” which includes all the skewers and their “sauce buddies”—such as green-chili-laced zhough and garlicky toum—sure makes things easy. Even the crinkle fries, served with whipped feta and apricot marmalade, are memorable.
