Hit-maker Stephen Starr’s Union Market takeover continues with this theatrical homage to Mexico City, which sits a block away from his steakhouse, St. Anselm. We’re hooked on the sheet-pan nachos—arrayed so that every chip gets the perfect amount of cheese, beans, and jalapeños—and raw-bar creations such as tuna and crab tostadas. Dig into tacos filled with carne asada or fried mahi-mahi, or dunk bites from a deep-fried whole snapper into chipotle aïoli. Next up for the neighborhood: Starr is opening a branch of his Manhattan bistro, Pastis (think of it as Le Diplomate East), with restaurateur Keith McNally in late January.
