With a dining room that feels like your chic friend’s apartment (oh, how we envy those bookshelves!) and a vibe befitting a leisurely dinner party, Hollis Silverman’s restaurant near Eastern Market is magnetic. Take a cue from the place’s name and order whatever whole duck is coming off the rotisserie. (Its accents change—on our visit, it was paired with a citrusy vinaigrette.) Not your thing? The restaurant makes one of the best roast chickens in the area. Pregame with snacks like honeynut squash rich with goat butter; gingery kampachi crudo; and Parker House rolls with foie gras and grape jam. Rochelle Cooper’s desserts—especially the fancy s’mores bar—are worth lingering for.
